Safe-Load-Lift Indicator In % Of Vehicle Lift Capacity

Industry Wide Problem

The loads moved by a typical material handling vehicle come in a variety of different shapes, physical sizes and weights. A large majority of forklift operators will experience difficulty on a daily basis with problems relating to theoretical forklift capacity as indicated on the manufacturer’s ID plate and the practical safe load handling activities within the material operating facility.

When the weight of the load is not clearly marked, the loads are moved to various lifting heights. The mast tilt angle cannot be easily defined or different attachments utilized. The travel speed and turning radius that cannot be easily judged will have a substantial effect on the load center of the vehicle. The forklift operator must deal with unknown elements that will have effect on changes in the vehicle’s center of gravity that has moved outside of the "Stability Triangle" without the operator’s knowledge.

The result is the well known possibility of the vehicle tipping which may cause damage to the goods and the equipment as well as compromising the operator’s safety.

The SkidWeigh System is an electronic device that can be installed on any forklift truck in order to convert it into a mobile check weighing scale. Every time a skid is picked up, the hydraulic pressure on the forklift is automatically activated and converted to a weight measurement and presented to the operator visually via a large electronic analog (clock type) indicator.

 Application

Regardless of your industry activity or material handling fleet size, there is a good chance that the Safe Load Lift indicator will improve your bottom line. Give your operators a tool that will increase their productivity, improve safety and minimize damage to goods and equipment. The Electronic Analogue Safe Load Lift system can be installed on any material handling vehicle regardless.of vehicle load capacity. Every time a load weight is picked up, regardless of the load centre or any other variable, the indicator pointer will show in % of the vehicle rated load.

Installation

The SkidWeigh System, SLL-Series, can be installed and calibrated by a local forklift dealer or end user forklift mechanic. The system is calibrated with two known weights with a normal load center of 24" on the forks, raised 3 to 4" of the ground.
