ED-Series SkidWeigh System
Lift Truck Operator Check Weighing Procedure The ED-Series is a lift truck check weighing system used to verify load weights on the move. This is not a "Legal For Trade" scale, but an on-board check weighing system that will allow your lift truck operator to determine the load weight within +/- 1% of the vehicle lift capacity. The only requirement from the operator is to initiate the proper load weight cycle. The lift truck load weight readout accuracy of +/- 1% of the vehicle lift capacity will be achieved when the lift truck operator initiates the proper load weight cycle 1 to 4 as per following:
Weighing Loads (Load Weight Cycle)
Note: Operator should watch the LED digits increasing until it reaches the peak value. This is the correct weight readout. Once the digits start to decrease, the operator does not have to concern himself with the numbers.
Installation Instructions Each ED-Series Kit is Supplied with 5 min. Installation VHS Video The ED-Series kit consist of: 1. Electronic digital LED or LCD* indicator with mounting bracket 2. Interface module with wiring harness 3. Hydraulic pressure transducer with wiring harness * LCD indicator, special order
Mounting Location for Indicator Head Mount the electronic indicator head on the vehicle dashboard or side railing of the lift truck. Use the mounting bracket to fasten the indicator to the vehicle, with two screws. The bracket can be removed from the indicator mounting cup as per attached drawing.
* Note: Make sure that mounting bracket, two round rings are positioned properly in order to be able to adjust view angle of the indicator as required.
Interface Module The ED-Series indicator will be connected to the interface module. Connect indicator plug to the plug on the interface module. Three wires from pressure transducer and power from vehicle will be connected to this interface module. The calibration set up will be made as well in that module with "L" and "H" pot's, therefore make sure that interface module is accessible and should be permanently put away after system have been calibrated. The interface module operating voltage is from 12 to 50 VDC.
Pressure Transducer The pressure transducer has a male port 1/4"-18 NPT.
The pressure transducer must be installed in vehicle hydraulic line between lift control valve and lift cylinder (s). The majority of pressure transducer installations into the vehicle hydraulic system requires some kind of T-piece to be connected in the hydraulic line. The T-piece size and thread will depend on the hydraulic hose. The pressure transducer can be installed in "hydraulic block divider", larger size elbow if available, or by drilling and tapping 1/4"- 18 NPT.
Make sure that installed pressure transducer will not touch any moving parts or assembly of the lift truck when in normal operation.( Moving mast, tilt cylinder, etc. )
Electrical Connections 1. The plug from digital indicator head should be connected to the plug of the interface module. 2. Gray cable from the pressure transducer ( 3 wires - RED, BLACK and WHITE ) is to be connected to the corresponding gray cable of the interface module. 3. Power connections: RED Wire (+) To Vehicle Ignition Switch, ON Position. Use in-line fuse. BLACK Wire (-) To battery negative ( Electric powered vehicles) To battery negative ( Vehicle chassis ) for combustion engine powered trucks.
